Want a fun and safe outdoor activity for the whole family?  PFS is kicking off its fifth outdoor cinema season with Back to the Future on Friday 10thJuly at Cascades carpark roof, the first of its twice weekly drive-in movies throughout the summer.  The drive-in cinema events will be Friday and Saturday nights. Experience popular, nostalgic films under the stars with the latest advances in FM technology to distribute sound through your car radio or handsets. Before the films we will be have fun activities, games, balloons, singalongs, light shows, karaoke.  Free PFS Sunset t-shirts for those who cosplay as film characters.

Three outdoor cinema events will be free for NHS staff including the first film Back to the Future.

Drive-in movies are just one of the reasons that community cinemas are making a comeback and PFS was one of the first to bring outdoor cinema to the South coast.

“The drive-in concept is just still really cool. It is often on someones bucket list to visit a drive-in movie theater and an important part of pop-culture history. At PFS we are supported by the British Film Institute to bring specialised films and drive-in/outdoor cinema to Portsmouth again this year and we have a wonderful volunteer team keen to prepare the drive-in cinema events.” says Aysegul Epengin, Director.

Councillor Steve Pitt, Cabinet Member for Culture and City Development and Deputy Leader will be on hand to open the event from his car.

As the UK and rest of the world slowly begin to emerge from such unprecedented circumstances, we are pleased to let you know that we are still working hard and safely increasing our outdoor cinema service capacity. We are dutifully following the precautions set by WHO and the UK Government in relation to social distancing.

Many thanks to the Awards for All Big Lottery, EXPRESS FM for their expertise and the management at Cascades Shopping Centre for making this season’s drive-in events happen. Solent Sky Services will be on site to take aerial footage and photos of the events. This can be viewed on our social media platforms and website.
